Alijah Arenas, a promising basketball talent and the son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, has been placed in an induced coma following a car crash in Los Angeles. Reports indicate that the 18-year-old was involved in the accident when a Tesla Cybertruck veered off the road in the early hours of Thursday morning. While the Los Angeles Fire Department did not officially identify the driver, the individual was rushed to a local hospital in serious condition.
Having committed to playing basketball at USC, Arenas is highly regarded as one of the top prospects of the class of 2025. Standing at 6 feet 6 inches, the guard was closely observed by his father Gilbert during the McDonald’s All-American Game in April. USC coach Eric Musselman expressed his concern and extended thoughts and prayers to Arenas and his family in the wake of the tragic incident.
Arenas is one of four children of Gilbert Arenas and his former partner, Laura Govan. Notably, his sister Izela recently made a move to play basketball at Kansas State. Gilbert Arenas, a former NBA star who played 12 seasons from 2001 to 2012, achieved accolades such as being selected as a three-time All-Star and earning the title of the league’s most improved player in 2003.
