Former NFL star Henry Ruggs, who was recently sentenced to a three- to 10-year prison term for a fatal DUI crash that resulted in the death of 23-year-old Tina Tintor, made a public apology to Tintor’s family during a Hope for Prisoners event in Las Vegas. The tragic incident occurred in November 2021 when Ruggs was driving at speeds up to 156 mph in a 45 mph zone, causing a collision that took Tintor’s life. Blood tests revealed that Ruggs was driving with a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit in Nevada.
Ruggs, a former first-round draft pick who was released by the Raiders following the crash, expressed deep remorse for his actions, stating that he wished he could go back in time and show the real version of himself to Tintor’s family. Despite his plea of guilty to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, Ruggs has aspirations of returning to the NFL after his potential parole in August 2026.
In response to Ruggs’ sentencing, Tintor’s mother, Mirjana Komazec, extended her prayers for Ruggs to witness his daughter’s growth and urged for positive change to stem from the tragedy. Ruggs, both at the event and during his sentencing, reiterated his sincere apologies for the pain and suffering caused by the devastating incident. This case serves as a poignant reminder of the consequences of reckless actions and the importance of accountability and compassion in the face of tragedy.
