Amy Gleason, a seasoned executive with a background in health care technology and previous experience in the first Trump administration, has been identified as the acting administrator of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). While DOGE has been spearheading efforts to implement budget cuts, it has been clarified that billionaire Elon Musk is not directly employed by DOGE but is involved as a senior adviser to President Donald Trump.

Gleason’s appointment comes after an executive order by Trump mandated the appointment of an administrator for DOGE. Prior to this role, Gleason worked with the United States Digital Service, now known as the US DOGE Service, where she collaborated with the White House on the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, over 20 members of the former digital service resigned in protest against Musk for his perceived impact on public services.

In addition to her government service, Gleason has held positions in health care startups and consulting firms, demonstrating a commitment to improving health care systems and advocating for patients with rare autoimmune diseases like juvenile myositis. Her experience includes working with organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
