The Trump administration is reportedly in the process of finalizing a travel ban that would restrict citizens from specific countries from entering the United States. This ban, which falls under an executive order signed by the president on Jan. 20, is aimed at addressing national security and public safety concerns. The order, titled “Protecting the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other,” aims to safeguard U.S. citizens from individuals who may pose threats to national security, promote hateful ideologies, or misuse immigration laws for malicious purposes.

Key officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Attorney General Pam Bondi, have been given a deadline of 60 days to identify countries to be included in the ban. The draft reportedly designates countries like Sudan, Venezuela, Somalia, and others as part of a “red list,” with Pakistan and Afghanistan expected to be added. Countries categorized as “orange” will have limited access, while “yellow” countries will face restrictions unless deficiencies are addressed within 60 days.

It remains uncertain whether individuals holding valid visas will be affected by the ban. Notably, previous travel bans imposed during Trump’s presidency targeted citizens from Muslim-majority countries, but President Joe Biden reversed these bans upon taking office in 2021. Industry experts warn that such blanket travel bans could lead to increased risks for American travelers, potentially affecting business interests and foreign relations. As the situation unfolds, the White House has yet to provide further comment on this development.
