A grand military parade is set to take place in Washington, showcasing troops, tanks, weapons, aircraft, and music performers such as country singer Scotty Hasting, a wounded Army veteran. Scheduled for June 14, the parade celebrates the U.S. Army’s 250th year and coincides with President Trump’s 79th birthday. Performances by artists like Noah Hicks and DJ Nyla Symone are expected, with Trump slated to speak at the event, drawing a crowd of at least 200,000.
The two-hour spectacle will feature Army parachuters, a concert with 5-7 musical acts, and vintage warplanes flying over the National Mall. The parade route, starting on Constitution Avenue near the National Mall, will pass by Trump’s viewing stand. The event culminates with Trump overseeing the enlistment and reenlistment of soldiers, followed by fireworks at dusk.
To accommodate the parade, road closures and parking restrictions have been implemented in D.C., with estimated costs totaling $30 million, potentially rising to $45 million. Despite the Army’s commitment to cover any damages, officials do not anticipate road damage from the parade. The celebrations also include a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, historical reenactors, flyovers, and military bands honoring the U.S. Army’s legacy.
